Croatia

Croatia is the land of a thousand islands and boasts a stunning coastline stretching almost 6,000 kilometres. Its 1,700 large and small islands make Croatia a real paradise for sailors and a great choice for yacht charter. The Mediterranean climate means you can enjoy cruising its waters until well into November.

The Kornati islands are a very popular destination for yacht charters.

Comprising some 147 islands, islets and rocky reefs, the Kornati archipelago has a unique charm and is protected as a national park. A sparse, almost moon-like landscape sets this area apart. Small bars located in hidden bays are often the only sign of civilisation. The landlords put out buoys or build tiny landing-stages for yacht crews. After a visit here, people frequently return – largely because of the rare degree of naturalness, which is increasingly hard to find these days.

In southern Croatia you will find remote bays as well as vibrant towns, ideal to explore with your charter yacht. Cultural highlights include Trogir, Split, Hvar, Korcula and Dubrovnik, which all offer enchanting old-town ambience paired with the Mediterranean zest for life. Everywhere you go, small bars, bistros and taverns called konobas tempt you to soak up the local delights. Most of the historical buildings are freely accessible and are often used as an integral part of daily life, making for a relaxing and enjoyable trip on shore. In Split, for example, you can visit Diocletian’s magnificent palace and sip an early morning espresso or a refreshing beer later on. To appreciate Korcula’s narrow alleyways, simply grab an outdoor seat at one of the restaurants for the perfect vantage point. The old town in Dubrovnik is also full of fascinating sights.

If it’s peace and quiet you’re looking for, then head for the bays of the Pakleni Islands or for the larger island of Mljet.
